Assessment: 1000wd philosophy of teaching statement (20%) and seminar presentation (35%) and 3000wd literature review (45%)

This unit of study is undertaken by double method science students who will have addressed the NSW Institute of Teachers' requirements for accreditation as a science teacher (in two secondary science areas) in their other units of study. Using a set of case studies, this unit provides students with an opportunity to explore in detail several contemporary issues in science pedagogy and assessment, and to undertake an in-depth study of a specific issue of their choosing which is relevant to their understanding of science teaching.
