This unit explores the concept of school as community through two themes surrounding the first professional experience in schools. The first theme of 'Leading a Learning Community' will investigate the interrelationship between pedagogy and management in the classroom. This will involve learning activities to support preparation for the first professional experience. The second theme 'Enhancing Your Work in the Learning Community' will draw upon the professional experience to develop reflective practice and investigate the relationship between students and teachers within a school community. Critical reflection will be a focus throughout the unit.
