This is one of two units of study which prepare students for commencing the final honours year. It looks at the different ways in which research in political economy may be done. It compares the methodologies of the principal schools of economic thought, concentrating on aspects which distinguish neoclassical and non-neoclassical approaches to the study of economic issues. This is an important step towards the design of useful research in political economy.Third year students who have not completed the prerequisites should consult the Department of Political Economy about alternative requirements.
